Romanian Industrial Output Rises for 1st Time in 9 Months
Industrial production in Romania grew by 1.1 percent year-on-year in May of 2022, rebounding from an upwardly revised 7.2 percent drop a month earlier. It was the first increase in industrial production since last August, as production of manufacturing recovered (1.1% vs -8.1%), amid a softer decline in both electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-3.7% vs -11.0%) and mining and quarrying (-7.2% vs -11.3%). On a monthly basis, industrial output edged down 0.1 percent in May, after a downwardly revised 0.3 percent growth in the previous month. Considering the first five months of 2022, industrial production fell by 2.4%.

Romania Industrial Output Shrinks the Most in 21 Months
Industrial production in Romania fell by 6.9 percent year-on-year in April of 2022, following an upwardly revised 4.0 percent drop a month earlier. It was the third straight month of decline in industrial production and the steepest decrease since July 2020, as production fell faster for all sectors: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-11.1% vs -8.7%), mining and quarrying (-11.3% vs -2.9%) and manufacturing (-6.5% vs -0.5%). On a monthly basis, industrial output grew by 0.7 percent in April, reversing from an upwardly revised 0.9 percent drop in the previous month. Considering the first four months of 2022, industrial production shrank by 3.1%.
