Qatar Inflation Rate Quickens for 2nd Month
Qatar's annual inflation accelerated for the second straight month to 4.66% in April of 2022, the highest since last December. Main upward pressure came from prices of recreation & culture (35.25%), followed by miscellaneous goods and services (5.49%), housing, water, electricity and other fuels (3.75%); food and beverages (3.59%) and clothing and footwear (2.44%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.29%, slowing from a 0.58% increase in the previous month.

Qatar Inflation Rate at 3-Month High of 4.42%
Annual inflation rate in Qatar accelerated for the first time in three months to 4.42% in March of 2022 from 3.99% in February, pointing to the highest level since last December. Upward pressure came from cost of housing and utilities (2.25% vs 0.55%); recreation and culture (37.61% vs 22.16% in February); food and beverages (3.44% vs 6.92%); transport (1.57% vs 4.94%); miscellaneous goods and services (5.17% vs 3.33%); education (0.47% vs 0.48%); furniture and household equipment (0.43% vs 0.41%) and communication (0.31% vs 0.31%).On the other hand, prices dropped for clothing and footwear (-0.44% vs 3.32%); health (-3.09% vs -3.09%) and restaurants and hotels (-2.64% vs -2.45%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.58%, recovering from a 0.26% drop in the previous month.

Annual inflation rate in Qatar eased for a second consecutive month to 3.99% in February of 2022 from 4.16% in January. Main upward pressure came from cost of recreation and culture (22.16%); food and beverages (6.92%); transport (4.94%); miscellaneous goods and services (3.33%); clothing and footwear (3.32%); housing and utilities (0.55%); education (0.48%); furniture and household equipment (0.41%) and communication (0.31%). On the other hand, prices fell for health (-3.09%) and restaurants and hotels (-2.45%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.26%.
