Qatar July Inflation Rate Highest Since 2016
The annual inflation rate in Qatar increased to 3.13% in July of 2021 from 1.98% in the previous month which was the highest level since April 2016, due mainly to a faster rise in prices of transport (10.11% vs 9.38%), food & beverages (2.58% vs 2.09%) and miscellaneous goods & services (3.16% vs 3.14%). Prices continued to increase for both communication (0.91% vs 2.99%) and furniture & household equipment (2.63% vs 3.13%). In addition, deflation eased for housing & utilities (-5.24% vs -6.50%), clothing & footwear (-1.77% vs -4.72%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.90%, the most since January, rebounding from a 0.20% fall in the prior month.

The annual inflation rate in Qatar eased to 1.98% in June of 2021 from 2.47% in the previous month which was the highest level since September 2016. Prices rose at a softer pace for food & beverages (2.09% vs 3.46%); transport (9.38% vs 13.15%); miscellaneous goods & services (3.14% vs 3.93%); communication (2.99% vs 4.03%); and furniture & household equipment (3.18% vs 3.27%). In contrast, deflation quickened for housing & utilities (-6.50% vs -6.17%); and clothing & footwear (-4.72% vs -3-31%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined 0.20%, after a 0.83% uptick in the prior month.

Qatar Inflation Rate at Over 4-1/2-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Qatar increased to 2.47 percent in May of 2021 from 1.02 percent in the previous month. It was the second straight month of inflation and the highest level since September 2016, due to a rebound sharply in prices of both food & beverages (3.46% vs -0.4% in April) and recreation & culture (2.28% vs -7.83%), while miscellaneous goods & services prices increased faster (3.93% vs 3.57%). Meantime, prices advanced further for transport (13.15% vs 13.4%), furniture & household equipment (3.27% vs 3.29%), restaurant & hotels (5.60% vs 6.55%), education (3.72% vs 3.79%) and communication (4.03% vs 4.03%). In contrast, prices dropped for housing & utilities (-6.17% vs -5.81%), clothing & footwear (-3.31% vs -5.75%).
