Retail sales in Portugal increased 4.6 percent year-on-year in April of 2022, easing from a downwardly revised 12.8 percent advance in the previous month. It is the lowest growth in retail trade activity since October last year, as non-food sales slowed (11.5 percent vs 26 percent in March) particularly textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather products (44.1 percent vs 125.5 percent), household goods (17.4 percent vs 21.7 percent) and computers, tech equipment and books (11.3 percent vs 29.6 percent). In addition, sales of food, beverages & tobacco declined further (-3.6 percent vs -1.2 percent).
