New Zealand Exports Rise 9.6% YoY in September
Exports from New Zealand grew 9.6 percent from a year earlier to NZD 4,396 million in September of 2021. The increase was mainly explained by a sharp 17 percent rise in sales of milk powder, butter, and cheese (up NZD 128 million), namely milk powder (up NZD 64 million). Other significant increases were seen in meat and edible offal, up NZD 95 million (22 percent), and crude oil, up NZD 62 million (535 percent).
New Zealand Exports Edge Down in August
Exports from New Zealand edged down 0.9 percent from a year earlier to NZD 4,351 million in August of 2021, as August is a typical month of lower values for dairy exports. A large fall in aircraft and parts (down NZD 208 million) was partly offset by rises in other commodities including meat (up NZD 109 million), logs, wood, and wood articles (up NZD 71 million), and mechanical machinery and equipment (up NZD 35 million). “The decrease in the value of aircraft and parts exports was due to the export of planes to the United States in August 2020 for long-term storage as a result of New Zealand’s border closure,” Mr Allen said.
