Producer price inflation in Moldova soared for the fifth straight month to 19.8% year-on-year in March of 2022, up from 19.3% in the previous month. It was the highest reading since December of 2000. Upward pressure came from all categories: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (108.3%, the same pace as in February), manufacturing (13.6% vs 13%) and mining (15.3% vs 13%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 2.1%, faster than a 1.2% rise in the preceding month.
