Mexico's car production dropped 6.6 percent from a year earlier to 269,265 units in April of 2022. Mexico Car Production Inches Higher for 2nd Month
Mexico’s auto production rose 0.8 percent over a year earlier to 303,515 units in March of 2022, rising for the second straight month amid easing signs of the global shortage of semiconductors. Among major producers, output rose substantially for GM (19.0 percent to 68,132 units), Chrysler (28.4 percent to 41,396 units), Ford (27.2 percent to 32,173 units), and Toyota (29.0 percent to 23,889 units). On the other hand, production fell in plants of Volkswagen (-3.3 percent to 30,993 units) and Nissan (-55.4 percent to 26,367 units).

Mexico Car Output Rises for 1st Time in 8 Months
Mexico’s car production went up 0.7 percent from a year earlier to 240.479 thousand units in February of 2022, the first increase since June 2021. Among major automakers, output increased at Ford Motor (39.9 percent to 24.199 thousand), Toyota (41 percent to 24.183 thousand) and KIA (16.7 percent to 19.600 thousand). In contrast, output fell at Nissan (-16.2 percent to 41.378 thousand), General Motors (-11.7 percent to 36.703 thousand) and Volkswagen (-50.8 percent to 13.572 thousand).
