Mauritius Industrial Output Growth Slows in Q3 
Industrial production in Mauritius rose 9.5 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2021, following a revised record 48 percent jump in the previous period, largely due to fading low base effects of the pandemic shock last year. Growth slowed in manufacturing (10.1 percent vs 54.7 percent in Q2); electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (8.3 percent vs 17.5 percent); and water supply, sewerage, water management & remediation (4.5 percent vs 14.3 percent). At the same time, the mining & quarrying sector stalled (vs 95.6 percent in Q2). On a quarterly basis, industrial production advanced 2 percent.

Mauritius Industrial Output Grows at Record Pace
Industrial production in Mauritius rebounded to 45.9 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, after a 5.6 percent slump in the previous period, primarily due to a low base effect from the pandemic shock last year. Output expanded significantly for mining & quarrying (82.6 percent vs 1.9 percent in Q1); manufacturing (53.1 percent vs -5.7 percent); and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (17.5 percent vs -9.2 percent). On a quarterly basis, industrial output grew by 3.2 percent.
