Macedonia Retail Trade Growth Advances in January
Retail sales in Macedonia increased 3.9 percent year-on-year in January of 2022, advancing from a 1.4 percent rise in the previous month. Sales accelerated for automotive fuel (25.6 percent vs 9.5 percent in December) and non-food products (9.9 percent vs 5.2 percent). Meanwhile, sales continued to decline for food, beverages & tobacco (-8.5 percent vs -2.8 percent).
Macedonia Retail Sales Growth Slows to 10-Month Low
Retail sales in Macedonia rose 1.4 percent year-on-year in December of 2021, slowing from a 9 percent increase in the previous month. It was the smallest annual gain in retail trade since February, as sales slowed for both non-food products (5.2 percent vs 12.8 percent in November); and automotive fuel (9.5 percent vs 9.9 percent). Also, sales declined for food, beverages & tobacco (-2.8 percent vs 8.9 percent).
