The current reading was the highest jobless rate since the three months to October of 2009. The number of unemployed stood at 13,300. Whereas the employed population fell by 800 to 370,400, mostly in construction, and gaming & junket activities. Meanwhile, the labour force participation rate edged up to 69.1 percent from 68.8 percent in the previous period.

The unemployment rate in Macau inched up to 3.3 percent in the three-month period ending February of 2022, from 3.2 percent in the previous three-month period. It was the highest jobless rate since the three months to November of 2009, as the number of unemployed increased by 400 people to 12,800 and the employed population fell by 5,400 to 373,600. The hardest hit activities were construction; restaurants & similar activities; and gaming & junket. The labor force participation rate edged down to 69.3 percent from 69.9 percent in the previous period.
