Meanwhile, prices continued to rise for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.5 percent vs 5.4 percent in April), transports (12.7 percent vs 11.5 percent), miscellaneous goods and services (5.8 percent vs 5.3 percent), furnishings and household equipment (6 percent vs 5.1 percent), and restaurants and hotels (5.9 percent vs 5.5 percent). Luxembourg’s annual inflation rate rose to a fresh all-time high of 7.0 percent in April of 2022, quickening from 6.1 percent in the previous month, underpinned by faster increases in prices of housing & utilities (12.7 percent vs 12.0 percent in March); transports (11.5 percent vs 10.8 percent); and miscellaneous goods & services (5.3 percent vs 4.9 percent). Upward pressure was also notable in foods & non-alcoholic beverages (5.4 percent vs 3.9 percent); furnishings & household maintenance equipment (5.1 percent vs 4.2 percent); and restaurants & hotels (5.5 percent vs 4.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.8 percent, easing from a 1.0 percent increase in the previous month.
