Italy Current Account Surplus Narrows in August
Italy’s current account surplus narrowed to EUR 5.03 billion in August of 2021 from EUR 6.99 billion in the corresponding month of 2020. The goods surplus decreased to EUR 2.47 billion form EUR 4.68 billion a year earlier, while the secondary income gap widened to EUR 1.67 billion from EUR 1.31 billion. At the same time, the services account surplus widened to EUR 1.62 billion from EUR 1.39 billion and primary income increased its surplus to EUR 2.61 billion from EUR 2.23 billion in August of 2021.

Italy Current Account Surplus Narrows in July
Italy’s current account surplus shrank to EUR 7.94 billion in July of 2021 from EUR 10 billion in the same month of the previous year. The goods surplus decreased to EUR 9.02 billion from EUR 9.77 billion a year earlier, whereas the services balance swung to a deficit of EUR 0.1 billion from EUR 0.6 billion surplus. At the same time, the primary income surplus decreased to EUR 0.58 billion from EUR 0.79 billion while the secondary income gap widened to EUR 1.5 billion from EUR 1.2 billion in July of 2020.
