Italy posted a current account deficit of EUR 2.19 billion in April of 2022, swinging from a surplus of EUR 6.39 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. It was the fourth consecutive current account gap, as the goods account swung to a deficit of EUR 1.78 billion from a surplus of EUR 6.81 billion in the previous year, and the secondary account gap widened to EUR 1.4 billion from EUR 1.14 billion.
