Hungary's industrial production rose 3.1 percent from a year earlier in April of 2022, following a 3.6 percent increase in the prior month and below market estimates of a 5.3 percent rise, a preliminary estimate showed. It was the sixth consecutive month of expansion in the sector as the majority of the manufacturing subsections contributed to the production growth. Production of computers, electronics, optical goods; as well as that of food products, beverages, and tobacco products expanded above the industrial average. However, output in the transport equipment sector fell due to a scarcity of semiconductors and other supply chain issues. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production declined 1.6 percent in April, following an upwardly revised 0.2 percent downtick in March.
