Inflation also quickened, but to a lesser extent, in durable goods, household appliances & services (4.2 percent vs 3.7 percent); hotels, cafés & restaurants (3.8 percent vs 2.8 percent); and miscellaneous goods & services (0.9 percent vs 0.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 2.1 percent, slowing from an upwardly revised 2.8 percent advance in March.

The annual inflation rate in Greece accelerated to 8.9 percent in March of 2022 from 7.2 percent in February, the highest since June 1995. Cost advanced faster for housing & utilities (29.9 percent from 25.4 percent), food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.1 percent from 7.1 percent), transport (15.4 percent from 12.2 percent), clothing & footwear (6.5 percent from 5.6 percent) and restaurant & hotels (2.8 percent from 1.7 percent). Also, prices rebounded for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (0.4 percent from -0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 2.7 percent, following a 1.1 percent gain in February.
