Construction output in Greece rose 5.7 percent from a year earlier in the fourth quarter of 2021, accelerating from an upwardly revised 4.4 percent growth in the third quarter. Building activity soared 22.7 percent (vs 26.9 percent in Q3) and the civil engineering works declined less (-3.9 percent vs -8.2 percent). On a quarterly basis, construction output jumped 37.6 percent from a 4.4 percent rise in the previous quarter.

Greek Construction Output Rises in Q3
Construction output in Greece rose 3.7 percent from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2021, easing from a 4-year high of 16.2 percent growth in the second quarter as low base effects begin to fade. Building activity soared 27.2 percent (vs 25.4 percent in Q2), the highest reading since at least 2016. On the other hand, civil engineering works decreased by 9.4 percent (vs a 9.8 percent rise). On a quarterly basis, construction output rose 5.7 percent from a 29.6 percent rise one quarter earlier.
