German Current Account Surplus Rises in June
Germany's current account surplus widened to EUR 22.5 billion in June of 2021 from EUR 20.3 billion in the same month last year. The goods surplus rose to EUR 16.2 billion from EUR 14.8 billion a year ago and the primary income surplus advanced to EUR 8.6 billion from EUR 4.2 billion. Meantime, the services surplus narrowed to ERU 0.5 billion from EUR 2.4 billion and the secondary income deficit increased to EUR 2.9 billion from EUR 1.2 billion. Considering the first half of the year, the current account surplus widened to EUR 101.6 billion from EUR 80 billion in the same period of 2020.

German Current Account Surplus Widens in May
Germany's current account surplus widened sharply to EUR 13.1 billion in May 2021, from EUR 7.1 billion in the same month last year. The goods surplus rose to EUR 14.4 billion from EUR 9 billion a year ago, as the global demand continued to recovery following the reopening of the economies; while the services surplus fell slightly to EUR 1.2 billion from EUR 1.6 billion. On the other hand, the primary income account fell into a small deficit of EUR 0.1 billion; while the secondary income gap shrank to EUR 2.5 billion from EUR 3.5 billion a year ago. Considering January-May, the current account surplus widened to EUR 100.3 billion from EUR 79.2 billion in the same period of 2020.

German Current Account Surplus Widens Sharply in April
Germany's current account surplus widened sharply to EUR 21.3 billion in April 2021, from EUR 10.0 billion in the same month last year. The goods surplus rose to EUR 16.7 billion from EUR 3.7 billion a year ago, amid a recovery in global demand following the gradual re-opening of the economy. In addition, the services surplus increased to EUR 2.1 billion from EUR 1.7 billion, while the secondary income deficit shrank to EUR 3.9 billion from 4.3 billion. The primary income surplus, however, declined to EUR 6.5 billion from EUR 8.9 billion. Considering January-April, the current account surplus widened to EUR 87.8 billion from EUR 72.3 billion in the same period of 2020.
