France's current account deficit widened to EUR 3.5 billion in June 2021, from a revised EUR 0.9 billion in the previous month and compared to market expectations of a EUR 1.4 billion gap. The latest reading pointed to the largest gap since September of 2020. The goods deficit expanded to EUR 5.9 billion from EUR 3.8 billion in June, while the services surplus narrowed to EUR 2.8 billion from EUR 3.3 billion. Meanwhile, the primary income surplus was little-changed at EUR 3.6 billion and the secondary income gap was flat at EUR 4.0 billion.

France's current account deficit narrowed to EUR 0.5 billion in June 2021, the smallest since December 2019, from a revised EUR 2.4 billion in the previous month. The goods deficit fell to EUR 3.4 billion from EUR 3.8 billion in May, and the services surplus rose sharply to EUR 3.3 billion from EUR 1.9 billion. Meanwhile, the primary income surplus was little-changed at EUR 3.5 billion and the secondary income gap was flat at EUR 3.9 billion.
