M3 money supply in the Euro Area increased 7.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 15,105 billion in August 2021, up from 7.6 percent growth in the previous month and slightly above market expectations of 7.8 percent. The components of M3 showed the following developments. The annual growth rate of the narrower aggregate M1, which comprises currency in circulation and overnight deposits, stood at 11.1 percent, compared with 11.0 percent in July. The annual growth rate of short-term deposits other than overnight deposits (M2-M1) was -1.5 percent, compared with -1.8 percent; while the annual growth rate of marketable instruments (M3-M2) increased to 9.9 percent from 7.9 percent. source: European Central Bank
