Output slowed for manufacturing (9.2 percent vs 18.4 percent in May) and mining & quarrying production declined (-4.9 percent vs 1.1. percent). On the other hand, output advanced faster for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (3.5 percent vs 2.6 percent). Considering the first half of the year, industrial activity advanced 9.6 percent. On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 1.5 percent, rebounding from a 2 percent drop in May.

Croatia Industrial Output Grows for 6th Month
Industrial production in Croatia climbed 15.8 percent from a year ago in May of 2021, following a record 17.3 percent jump in the previous month. It was the sixth straight month of rising industrial activity, mainly attributable to low base effects and the gradual easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Production advanced solidly for manufacturing (18.4 percent vs 16.4 percent), mostly basic metals (62.9percent vs 28.8 percent) and computer, electronic and optical products (67.6 percent vs 38.8 percent). At the same time, output rebounded for mining (1.1 percent vs -0.2 percent), but it slowed sharply for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (2.6 percent vs 29.1 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production shrank 2 percent, following a 2.1 percent decrease in the prior month. Considering the first five months of 2021, industrial activity grew 9.9 percent over a year ago.
