Canada November Wholesale Sales Surpasses Expectations
Wholesale sales in Canada rose by 3.5 percent month-over-month to C$ 75.6 billion in November of 2021, surpassing preliminary estimates of 2.7 percent, despite severe flooding and transportation disruptions in British Columbia during the month. It was the fourth consecutive increase, largely due to higher sales for building materials and supplies (7.1 percent), reflecting the gains in the lumber, millwork, hardware, and other building supply industries. Higher sales were also recorded for motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories (4.5 percent) with slightly higher availability of semiconductors, while miscellaneous wholesaler sales edged 5 percent higher. On the other hand, sales decreased for farm products (-9.3 percent).

Canada Wholesale Sales Seen Rising 2.7% MoM in November
Wholesale sales in Canada likely advanced by 2.7 percent month-over-month in November of 2021, the strongest rise since March, preliminary estimates showed. The increase mainly reflects higher sales in the building materials and supplies subsector (6.3%). Positive contributions also are expected to come from motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and accessories (3.6%); personal and household goods (2.7%); machinery, equipment and supplies (2.3%); miscellaneous goods (1.4%) and food, beverage and tobacco products (1.1%).
