Bulgaria Retail Sales Rise Faster in March
Bulgaria's retail sales jumped 9.6 percent year-on-year in March of 2022, following a 6.6 percent rise in the previous month, the thirteenth straight monthly advance. Main upward pressure came from sales of non-food products (13.8 percent vs 6.4 percent in February) and automotive fuel (14.1 percent vs 14.9 percent), while turnover from food, beverage & tobacco rose significantly less (1.7 percent vs 3.4 percent). On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, retail sales went up 1.6 percent, following a revised 0.2 percent gain in the prior month.

Bulgaria's retail sales climbed 6.6 percent from a year earlier in February of 2022, compared to an 11.1 percent gain in the previous month, marking the twelve-monthly consecutive expansion. Main upward pressure came from sales of automotive fuel (14.9 percent), non-food products (6.4 percent), and food, beverage & tobacco (3.4 percent). On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, retail sales declined 0.5 percent, following a 1.0 percent gain in the prior session.
