Bulgaria Consumer Morale Rises for 5th Straight Quarter
Bulgaria's consumer confidence indicator rose by 2.7 points to -30.9 in the second quarter of 2021 as consumers were less pessimist regarding the general economic situation of the country (-25.6 vs -26.8 in Q1) and household savings (-59.8 vs -61.6). Brighter assessment was also recorded for next year’s unemployment (23.6 vs 32.8) while there was a widespread aversion among households towards their intentions to purchase a home (-88.1 vs -89.5) or spend on large improvements (-74.1 vs -73.6).

Bulgaria Consumer Morale Remains Weak in Q4
Bulgaria's consumer confidence indicator rose by 0.8 points to -37.7 in the fourth quarter of 2020, from the previous three-month period's reading of -38.5. The consumers’ total assessment of the development of the economic situation in the country over the last 12 months improved. At the same time, people living in the cities were optimistic about the country's situation over the next 12 months, as opposed the rural population which was slightly more pessimistic than it was three months ago. In addition, consumers were less pessimistic about changes in the financial situation of households over the last 12 months and in their forecasts about the next 12 months. The views on employment levels, however, deteriorated.

Bulgaria Consumer Confidence
In Bulgaria, the consumer survey is carried out 4 times a year on a rotational principle and covers around 1200 people from urban and rural areas. The questionnaire includes 15 questions relating to the financial situation of household, general economic situation in the country, consumer prices, unemployment, major purchases, household savings, financial situation of household, buying a car, buying or building a home and purchases for home improvements. All assessments of present situation or present tendency and all expectations refer to a 12-month-period of variable change.
