Brazil Government Budget Deficit Narrows Sharply in July
Brazil's nominal budget deficit narrowed to BRL 55.4 billion in July 2021 from BRL 86.9 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, as the central government gap decreased sharply to BRL 59.3 billion from BRL 91.0 billion a year earlier. Meanwhile, the regional government surplus increased to BRL 5.1 billion from BRL 3.6 billion in July 2020, while the state-owned enterprises budget shifted to a BRL 1.3 billion deficit from BRL 0.5 billion surplus. The primary budget gap plunged to BRL 10.3 billion from BRL 81.1 billion a year ago.

Brazil Government Budget Gap Narrows Sharply
Brazil's nominal budget deficit narrowed significantly to BRL 75.6 billion in June of 2021 from a record BRL 210.2 billion in the same month of the previous year. The central government gap shrank to BRL 81.3 billion from BRL 213.0 billion a year earlier; and the regional governments account surplus widened to BRL 4.8 billion, from BRL 2.6 billion. Additionally, the surplus of state-owned enterprises increased to BRL 0.9 billion, compared to BRL 0.3 billion a year earlier. Finally, gross government debt fell further to 84.0% of GDP in June, from 84.6% in the previous month.
