Bosnia and Herzegovina's Economic Expansion Continues
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s GDP advanced by 8.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2021, following a 11.6 percent rise in the previous quarter. It was the third consecutive quarter of expansion after a recession induced by the pandemic last year. The largest increases were recorded in accommodation and food service activities (30.5 percent); transportation and storage (22 percent ); and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (18 percent). On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy grew 1.7 percent, slowing from 1.9 percent rise in the second quarter.

Bosnia’s GDP Growth Strongest in At least 16-1/2 Years
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s GDP expanded 11.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, following an upwardly revised 2.5 percent increase in the previous quarter. It was the largest GDP growth since at least Q4 of 2004, following a record 8 percent slump a year earlier due to the coronavirus crisis. This expansion was boosted by wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (27 percent); transportation and storage (17.2 percent); and manufacturing (14.5 percent). Bosnia's Economy Exits Recession in Q1
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s GDP rebounded 1.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, after three consecutive quarters of contraction amid the pandemic shock. The largest rises were recorded in the manufacturing sector (8.4 percent), financial & insurance activities (5.1 percent) and administrative & support services (4.8 percent). On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy grew by 4.6 percent, after a 3.0 percent advance in Q4 2020.
