Belgium recorded a current account deficit of EUR 6,249 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, swinging from a EUR 0.438 million surplus in the corresponding period of the previous year. It was the first current account deficit since the second quarter of 2019 and the highest since the second quarter of 2015. The goods account recorded a deficit of EUR 4.761 million, swinging from the gap of EUR 1.607 million. Also, the services gap widened to EUR 0.910 million from EUR 0.243, million while the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 0.671 million from EUR 1.066 million.
