The industrial producer price index in Austria climbed to 21.5 percent year-on-year in April of 2022, accelerating from a 21.2 percent rise in the previous month. It was the largest increase in producer prices since the series began in January 2001, driven by higher prices in the energy sector (53.2 percent vs 53.1 percent in March), in particular of industrially produced gases; gas supply services; electricity and electricity supply services; and petroleum products. In addition, prices went up faster for intermediate goods (19.4 percent vs 19.3 percent), consumer goods (6.1 percent vs 5.0 percent) and capital goods (3.9 percent vs 3.6 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 1.3 percent, easing from a 2.8 percent rise in the previous month.

The industrial producer price index in Austria climbed 21.2 percent year-on-year in March of 2022, accelerating from an 18.9 percent rise in the previous month. It was the largest increase in producer prices since the series began in January 2000, driven by higher prices in the energy sector (53.1 percent vs 43.9 percent in February). In addition, prices went up faster for intermediate goods (19.3 percent vs 19.1 percent), consumer goods (5.0 percent vs 4.1 percent) and capital goods (3.6 percent vs 3.1 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 2.8 percent, after a 1.2 percent increase in February.
