Armenia Hikes Key Interest Rate to 9.25%
The Central Bank of Armenia lifted its key refinancing rate by 125 bps to 9.25% on March 15th, 2022, bringing borrowing costs to the highest since 2015, amid mounting concerns over strong inflationary pressures, which are likely to be inflamed by the Ukraine war. Armenia’s annual inflation rate eased for the third straight month to 6.5% in February of 2022, from 7.1% in January, but well above 5.3% in the same month a year ago.

Armenia Raises Key Interest Rate to 8%
The Central Bank of Armenia lifted its key refinancing rate by 25 bps to 8% on February 1st, 2022, bringing borrowing costs to the highest since 2016, amid ongoing concerns over strong inflationary pressures. The annual inflation rate slowed to 7.7% in December of 2021, from a near eleven-year high of 9.6% in November and after six consecutive months of rises.
