Romania GDP Annual Growth Rate at 5.00 percent


The Romanian GDP expanded 5.0 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, following a 4.1 percent growth in the previous period and easily beating market expectations of 3.9 percent, a preliminary estimate showed. It was the strongest GDP growth rate since the fourth quarter 2017. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy advanced 1.3 percent in the first quarter, compared to an upwardly revised 1.0 percent expansion in the prior quarter.

Romania Interest Rate at 2.50 percent


The National Bank of Romania left its benchmark interest rate steady at 2.5% on May 15th 2019, as expected after inflation rate unexpectedly rose to a six-month high of 4.1 percent. The deposit and lending facility rates were also kept steady at 1.5% and 3.5%, respectively.
