Romania Industrial Production at 9.60 percent


Industrial production in Romania went up 9.6 percent year-on-year in October 2017, following a 7.6 percent gain in the prior month. It was the strongest increase in industrial output since June, as output rose at a faster pace for manufacturing (10.1 percent from 7.6 percent in September). Meantime, output of mining and quarrying rose less (8.1 percent from 11.4 percent). In contrast, production growth of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply declined by 1.7 percent, after a 2.6 percent increase in September. On a monthly basis, industrial output went up by 1 percent, following a downwardly revised 0.6 percent fall in a month earlier.

Romania Inflation Rate at 3.20 percent


Consumer prices in Romania increased 3.2 percent year-on-year in November of 2017, accelerating from a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month and beating market expectations of a 2.95 percent gain. It was the highest inflation rate since August 2013, as prices went up at a faster pace for both food (3.9 percent from 3.5 percent in October) and non-food products (4.1 percent from 3.3 percent), while cost of services rebounded (0.1 percent from -0.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up by 0.7 percent.

Exports from Romania increased by 13.3 percent year-on-year to an all-time high of EUR 5.76 billion in October 2017, as sales to the EU rose 13.3 percent and those to countries outside the EU grew 13 percent.

Imports to Romania jumped 16.7 percent year-on-year to an all-time high of EUR 7.08 billion in October 2017, boosted by higher purchases from the EU (13.3 percent) and from countries outside the EU (29.2 percent).
