Paraguay Interest Rate at 5.25 percent


The central bank of Paraguay maintained the benchmark interest rate at 5.25 percent in its September 21st meeting after a 25 bps trim in its August 23rd meeting. The decision was unanimous. The policy statement underscored that economic activity in Brazil has improved in recent months. They also mentioned that inflation expectations remain well anchored. Consumer prices in Paraguay increased 4.0 percent year-on-year in August of 2017, following a 4.0 percent increase in the previous month. The inflation rate remained at its highest since November of 2016.
