Palestine Inflation Rate at -0.09 percent


Consumer prices in Palestine edged down 0.09 percent year-on-year in September of 2018, reversing from 0.63 percent gain in the previous month. It was the first decline in consumer prices since May, as prices fell for food & non-alcoholic beverages (-1 percent from 0.27 percent in August). Additionally, housing prices increased less than a month earlier (1.18 percent from 1.97 percent). Meanwhile, transport prices went up at a faster pace (3 percent from 1.92 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched down 0.07 percent, after a 0.02 percent fall in August.

Palestine Industrial Production at -17.90 percent


Industrial production in Palestine tumbled 17.9 percent year-on-year in August of 2018 from a 1.7 percent drop in the previous month. It was the second straight month decline in industrial production and the steepest since December 2015. On a monthly basis, industrial output fell 2.4 percent, following a 12.1 percent jump in July. Output decreased for manufacturing (-2.9 percent from 12.7 percent in July); mining & quarrying (-11.5 percent from 6.7 percent), and water supply, sewerage, waste management & remediation (-22.7 percent from 25 percent). By contrast, output advanced faster for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (18 percent from 8.1 percent).
