Palestine Balance of Trade at -340.70 USD Million


Palestine's trade deficit increased to USD 340.7 million in March of 2017 from USD 326.7 million in the same month a year earlier, preliminary result showed. Year-on-year, sales rose 12.5 percent to USD 86.7 million while purchases went up by 5.8 percent to USD 427.4 million. In February 2017, trade deficit stood at USD 334 million.

Consumer prices in Palestine rose 0.86 percent from a year earlier in April of 2017, slowing from a 1.65 percent rise in March but marking the third straight month of increase. Considering the first four months of 2017, consumer prices went up 0.72 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.5 percent in April, after gaining 1.08 percent in a month earlier. Downward prices pressure came from food (-1.22 percent), clothing (-0.37 percent), housing (-0.38 percent); furniture, household goods (-0.02 percent), transport (-0.66 percent) and restaurants and cafes (-1.80 percent). In contrast, prices rose for: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.08 percent), health (0.15 percent), communications (0.23 percent), recreation & culture (0.18 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (0.04 percent).
