Myanmar Manufacturing PMI at 51.30
The Nikkei Myanmar Manufacturing PM increased to 51.3 in November 2018 from 48.0 in the previous month. It marks the first expansion in manufacturing activity since May, as output and new orders rebounded. Meanwhile, employment levels continued to fall amid a sharp contraction in backlogs of work and reports that some employees who had resigned were not being replaced. In terms of prices, the rates of increase in input prices and output charges eased to five- and four-month lows, respectively, in response to more intense competition and a slower rise in raw material costs. Despite demand conditions were more favorable, manufacturers registered one of the weakest levels of optimism since the series began.
