Luxembourg GDP Annual Growth Rate at 3.30 percent


The Luxembourg economy advanced 3.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017, following an upwardly revised 3.9 percent expansion in the previous period. Growth slowed for government consumption (1.7 percent from 3 percent in Q4 of 2016) and household spending (1.6 percent from 2 percent). Meanwhile, investment surged (11.3 percent from 9.5 percent). Also, foreign trade contributed less positively as exports growth slowed (3.2 percent from 3.8 percent) while imports accelerated (3.4 percent from 2.5 percent). On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.1 percent.

The goods deficit increased to EUR 938 million from a EUR 832 million and the secondary income surplus decreased to EUR 43 million from a EUR 144 million. In contrast, the services surplus rose to EUR 4967 million from a EUR 4837 million and the primary income gap fell to EUR 3609 million from a EUR 3630 million.
