Kazakhstan Industrial Production at 5.00 percent
Industrial production in Kazakhstan surged 5 percent year-on-year in November of 2017, following a 0.6 percent increase in the prior month. The mining and quarrying sector grew faster (4.4 percent vs 0.1 percent in October), as mining of coal & lignite recovered (2.1 percent vs -19.7 percent) while output rose for oil & natural gas (5.4 percent vs 1.7 percent) and metal ores (2.4 percent vs 1 percent). Also, manufacturing activity expanded (5.6 percent vs 1.1 percent), helped by higher production of pharmaceuticals (90.5 percent vs 48.5 percent); chemicals (20.3 percent vs 10.6 percent); other non-metallic mineral products (15.9 percent vs 1.2 percent) and coke & refined petroleum products (4.9 percent vs 3.5 percent). Meantime, electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply increased (6.5 percent vs 2.2 percent) while water supply recovered (0.4 percent vs -0.9 percent). Year to-date, industrial production jumped 7.3 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
