Dominican Republic Inflation Rate at 3.80 percent


Consumer prices in Dominican Republic increased 3.80% year-on-year in September of 2017, accelerating from a 3.18% rise in the previous month. It is the highest inflation rate since December of 2013, as prices advanced faster for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.67% compared to 2.15%); transport (6.23% compared to 6.11%); housing and utilities (6.52% compared to 5.90%); restaurants and hotels (1.96% compared to 1.91%); furnishings and household equipments (0.83% compared to 0.69%); health (3.64% compared to 3.58%); education (5.09% compared to 4.30%) and alcoholic beverages (6.29% compared to 4.19%). Meanwhile, cost rose less for: miscellaneous goods and services (2.82% compared to 2.95%) and recreation and culture (1.03% compared to 1.16%). In contrast, cost fell for clothing and footwear (-4.40% compared to -4.38%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.64% after increasing 0.57% in the prior month.
