Natural Gas extended gains in April, trading above $1.80/MMBtu, buoyed by expectations for colder weather in the coming weeks that could boost demand for the fuel. The market rebounded further from over two-decades low of $1.60/MMBtu after the coronavirus pandemic crushed gas demand.

Historically, Natural gas reached an all time high of 15.78 in December of 2005. Natural gas - data, forecasts, historical chart - was last updated on April of 2020.

Natural gas is expected to trade at 1.71 USD/MMBtu by the end of this quarter, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations. Looking forward, we estimate it to trade at 1.43 in 12 months time.

Natural gas
Natural gas accounts for almost a quarter of United States energy consumption. The NYMEX Division natural gas futures contract is widely used as a national benchmark price. The futures contract trades in units of 10,000 million British thermal units (mmBtu). The price is based on delivery at the Henry Hub in Louisiana, the nexus of 16 intra- and interstate natural gas pipeline systems that draw supplies from the region's prolific gas deposits. The Natural gas market prices displayed in Trading Economics are based on over-the-counter (OTC) and contract for difference (CFD) financial instruments. Our Natural gas market prices are intended to provide you with a reference only, rather than as a basis for making trading decisions.
