Bulgaria Current Account at 416.21 EUR Million


Bulgaria's current account surplus widened sharply to EUR 537.2 million in February of 2019 from EUR 178.7 million in the same month a year earlier. The primary income account swung to a EUR 10.6 million surplus compared with a deficit of EUR 66.4 million in February 2018 and the secondary income surplus advanced to EUR 427.2 million from EUR 397.3 million while the goods and services deficit narrowed to EUR 21.6 million from EUR 134.5 million a year ago. In the first two months of 2019, the current account surplus increased to EUR 705.2 million from EUR 55.6 million in the corresponding period of 2018.

Bulgaria Inflation Rate at 3.60 percent


Bulgaria's annual inflation rate increased to 3.6 percent in March 2019, the highest since October 2018, from 3.2 percent rise in the previous month, as prices rose faster for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.6 percent vs 5.0 percent in February); health (0.6 percent vs 0.4 percent) and for restaurants & hotels (4.8 percent vs 4.6 percent). In addition, cost of transport rebounded (2.4 percent vs -0.4 percent). On the other hand, prices went up at a softer pace for housing & utilities (4.6 percent vs 4.7 percent); recreation & culture (5.5 percent vs 6.1 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.9 percent vs 2.0 percent) and for miscellaneous goods & services (3.2 percent vs 3.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.1 percent, following a 0.5 percent gain in February.
