Brazil Unemployment Down to 4.9% in November


Then unemployment rate was estimated at 4.9%, the lowest in a month of November in the beginning of the series (March 2002). The rate declined 0.4 percentage points from 5.3% in the previous month and 0.3 percentage points from 5.2% in November 2011.

The number of unemployed persons (1.2 million) decreased by 8.0% compared with October (less 106,000 persons searching for job) and increased by 2.6% compared with the same month in the previous year. The number of workers with an employment record card signed in the private sector (11.4 million) did not record change in comparison with that of October.  In the annual comparison, there was increase (2.5%), representing an increment of 278,000 job posts with a signed employment record card in one year.
