Japan Trade Deficit Widens in November

Japan posted a larger-than-expected trade deficit in November 2012 as exports continue to shrink amid faltering global growth.

The country's trade gap stood at 953.4 billion yen ($11.31 billion) last month after a 691 billion yen ($8.19 billion) deficit in November of 2011. Exports fell 4.1 percent form a year earlier in November to 4.98 trillion yen. Japanese exports to China-the nation's largest trading partner-fell 14.5 percent in November, the fifth-straight monthly drop. Imports increased by 0.8% year-on-year to 5.94 trillion yen.
