Russia Unemployment Rate Edges Up to 5.2%


Russian jobless rate increased to 5.2 percent in November of 2014 from 5.1 percent in the previous month, above market expectations.

The number of unemployed people increased to 3.93 million in November from 3.87 million in October. A year earlier, the figure was 4.11 million.

822 thousand people were officially registered as unemployed in November, up from 796 thousand in October but down from 873 thousand a year earlier. 

Nominal wages rose increased 9.6 percent year-on-year in November, following an 8.6 percent rise in the previous month. Real wages went up 0.5 percent.
