Swiss Jobless Rate Edges Up in November


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate slightly increased to 3.2 percent in November of 2014 from 3.1 percent in the previous month. It is the highest figure since April.

In November, there were 136,552 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 4,155 more than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment fell by 2,21 persons (-1.8 percent).

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) decreased by 119 (-0.6 percent) to 18,602 persons and fell by 725 persons (-3.8 percent) from a year earlier.

The number of jobseekers totalized 193,892 in November of 2014, recording 6,177 persons more than in October and less 2,630 persons from a year earlier (-1.3 percent).
