Irish Unemployment Rate Falls for the Sixth Straight Month in November



In November of 2013, Ireland’s jobless rate decreased further to a seasonally adjusted and standardized 12.5 percent, falling to the lowest rate since August of 2009.

On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 3 400 in November 2013, reducing the seasonally adjusted total to 406 200.

54.1 percent (211 749) of all claimants on the Live Register were short term claimants.  The comparable figure for November of 2012 was 55.3 percent (230,715). The number of long term claimants on the Live Register in November was 179 758. 

There were 81 489 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register in November, which represents 20.8 percent of the total Live Register.  This compares with 21.0 percent one year earlier when there were 87 481 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register.
