Turkish Inflation Rate Quickens in November


Turkish annual inflation rate accelerated to 9.15 percent in November of 2014 from 8.96 percent in the previous month, as prices of food; hotels, cafes and restaurants continued to increase.

Year-on-year, the highest annual increase was recorded for prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (+14.37 percent), followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants (+14.32 percent), clothing and footwear (+9.71 percent), health (+9.33 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (+8.82 percent).

On a month-over-month basis, the CPI decreased sharply to 0.18 percent, following a 1.9 percent rise in the previous month. The highest monthly decrease was reported for prices of transportation (-1.79 percent), recreation and culture (-1.32 percent), communications (-0.13 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (-0.1 percent). In contrast, the prices increased of clothing and footwear (+4.11 percent) and household equipment (+0.86 percent).
