Japan's Jobless Rate Falls to 3.5% in October


Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 3.5 percent in October from 3.6 percent the month before and the availability of jobs edged higher.

The number of employed persons in October 2014 was 63.90 million, an increase of 240 thousand or 0.4% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in October 2014 was 2.33 million, a decrease of 300 thousand or 11.4% from the previous year.

The jobs-to-applicants ratio was 1.1 in September, up from 1.09 in the previous month. 

The number of new job offers fell 0.3 percent in October from the previous month but rose 1.1 percent from a year earlier.
