Mexico Unemployment Rate Falls Further


Mexican jobless rate decreased to 4.78 percent in October of 2014 from 5.08 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest rate since February of 2014.

Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.71 percent from 4.91 percent in September. Among regions, Federal District recorded the highest jobless rate (6.93 percent), followed by Baja California Sur (6.79 percent) and Nayarit (6.31 percent), while Guerrero recorded the lowest one (1.79 percent).

A year earlier, unemployment was recorded at 5.01 percent. The underemployment rate decreased 0.3 percent to 8.6 percent in October of 2014. The labour force participation rate decreased to 59.17 percent from 58.63 percent.
