Angolan Inflation Rate Down to Record Low in October


In October of 2013, Angolan annual inflation rate slowed to 8.38 percent, its lowest level on record. Inflation a year ago was recorded at 9.76 percent.

The inflation rate remained below 10 percent for the fifteenth straight month. For 2014, the Government targets inflation between 7 and 9 percent.  

On a month-over-month basis, prices slowed 0.41 percent in October, from 0.5 percent in September. Although cost of housing equipment and routine maintenance recorded the highest increase, it eased to 0.95 percent from 1.23 percent in September. The main upward pressures came from prices of restaurants and hotels (up by 0.8 percent), cost of clothing and footwear (+0.77 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (+0.51 percent). 

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages slowed to 0.44 percent. Transport and housing prices remained stable in October.
