Swiss Unemployment Rate Up to 3.1% in October


Swiss unadjusted jobless rate slightly increased to 3.1 percent in October of 2014 from 3.0 percent in the previous month. It is the highest figure since April.

In October, there were 132,397 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 2,432 more than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment fell by 1,046 persons.

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years) decreased by 759 persons (-3.9 percent) to 18,721 persons and fell by 490 persons (-2.6 percent) from a year earlier.

The number of jobseekers totalized 187,715 in October of 2014, recording 4,602 persons more than in September and less 821 persons from a year earlier (-0.4 percent).
