Mozambique Inflation Rate Slightly Down to 4.42% in October


In October of 2013, Mozambican annual inflation rate slightly eased to 4.42 percent, from 4.52 percent in the previous month. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.24 percent, the same rate recorded in September.

Year-on-year, prices of education increased the most, although at the same rate recorded in the previous month (9.59 percent). Nampula recorded again the highest inflation rate (6.24 percent), but it slowed from 6.13 percent in September. In Maputo, the inflation remained steady at 4.21 percent and in Beira it slightly slowed to 1.56 percent. 

On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.24 percent, the same rate recorded in September. Nampula recorded the highest rate (0.32 percent), followed by Maputo (0.23 percent) and Beira (0.06 percent). 

Considering the ten months of 2013 together, from January to October, prices rose 2.24 percent.
