Japan's Unemployment Rate Down to 4% in September
Japan's jobless rate fell slightly in September and the number of employed increased by 0.8 percent, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications reported on October 29th.

The number of employed persons in September 2013 was 63.59 million, an increase of 510 thousand or 0.8 % from the previous year.
The number of unemployed persons in September 2013 was 2.58 million, a decrease of 170 thousand or 6.2 % from the previous year.
The jobs-to-applicants ratio was 0.95 in September, unchanged from the previous month, when it rose to its highest since May 2008.
The number of new job offers rose 2.7 percent in September from the previous month and rose 9.2 percent from a year ago.
Compared to the same month a year earlier, employment rose the most in medical and health care (+14000), accomodation, eating and drinking services (+13000), Wholesale and retail trade (+15000). The biggest job losses were reported in scientific research and education (-22000) agriculture, Education, learning support (-12000) and Finance and insurance (-9000).
