Japan's Unemployment Rate Down to 4.1% in September


Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.1 percent in September from 4.3 percent in August.

The number of employed persons in September 2011 was 62.76 million, a decrease of 330 thousand or 0.5% from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons in September 2011 was 2.75 million, a decrease of 650 thousand or 19.1% from the previous year.

The results for whole Japan including three prefectures (Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima) are available from September 2011 results. However, there are some enumeration districts in coastal area where the survey is not conducted due to the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
