South Korea Jobless Rate Edges Down in September


South Korea’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 3.7 percent in September of 2017 from 3.8 percent in the previous month, in line with market expectations.

The number of unemployed persons declined by 21 thousand from the previous month to 1.02 million while the number of employed rose by 46 thousand to 26.60 million.

The participation rate edged up to 63.1 percent from 63.0 percent in August.

A year ago, the jobless rate was 4.0 percent.
