Mexico Unemployment Rate Falls Slightly to 5.08%


Mexican jobless rate decreased to 5.08 percent in September of 2014 from 5.18 percent in the previous month. Upon seasonal adjustment, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.75 percent from a revised 4.83 percent rate.

In September of 2014, the labour force participation rate dropped 0.49 percent when compared to the previous year to 58.64 percent. Meanwhile, the underemployed rate increased 0.1 percent year–on–year to 8.4 percent and 94.92 percent of economically active population was employed.

Among regions, Federal District recorded the highest jobless rate (7.4 percent), followed by Querétaro (6.95 percent) and Nayarit (6.87 percent), while Guerrero recorded the lowest one (2.05 percent).
